Join us in creating your very own glazed pottery! Take home either a decorative toad or a planter for your garden after attending this pair of workshops led by David Fedida. During the first session on August 4th, participants creating planters will carve, embellish, and stamp their pottery. Those making toads will shape the body, form the mouth and add limbs, eyes and spots. In the week between classes, David will dry and bisque fire your pottery in his kiln. The second session on August 11th will be focused on color design and glazing, and participants making planters can make macramé hangers to suspend their pots. After the second session, David will fire your pottery in his kiln another time to vitrify the pots and integrate the glaze with the clay body. You can pick up your finished pottery anytime during store hours after August 20th!

Cost:  $60.00

Time:  10:00 am – 1:00 PM (both days)

Maximum # of Participants: 40

About the Instructor:

David Fedida is a seasoned potter with experience creating both functional and decorative ceramics. He regularly throws a wide variety of items with his potter’s wheel, including pitchers, vases, planters, casseroles, small animals, and figurines. David has shown his ceramics at numerous art shows and exhibitions, and sold his work at craft and artisan fairs throughout the Lower Mainland. David’s pieces are hand-thrown on a potter’s wheel using a range of different colored clays. All the ceramic slips and glazes used in this class are formulated by hand using a variety of ingredients.

Included in the cost:

  • Pre-thrown clay toad or planter form
  • Clay sprigs, stamps, carvings, and other embellishments
  • Wide selection of glazes
